In Hinduism, the goddess Tara (meaning "star") is a manifestation of the queen of time, Kali. As a star is seen as a beautiful but perpetually self-combusting thing, so Tara is at core the absolute, unquenchable hunger that propels all life.
In Buddhism, Tara or Arya Tara is a female Buddha associated with tantra practice, as preserved in Tibetan Buddhism. She is the "mother of liberation", and represents the virtues of success in work and achievements.
We often have brass figures of Tara in our Glastonbury shop.
